Today, we're focusing on a common issue faced by those wearing hand-tied hair extensions: "slips." Almost everyone encounters this at some point during their hair extensions journey.
If you've worn hair extensions before, you might already be familiar with a "slip." Essentially, each bead in hand-tied hair extensions is attached to about 100 strands of your natural hair and connected to the next bead with thread. A slip occurs when one bead slides out of place, which can make your row feel loose. It's important to remember that each bead is secured to its own foundation of hair, so one bead slipping won't affect the others. Most slips occur in the front bead, which can feel like your entire row is loose, but don't worry—your extensions are still secure.
Why Do Slips Happen?
Slips are common and don't indicate that you did anything wrong. Women with finer hair and active lifestyles are more prone to slips, but they can happen to any hair type. Activities like wearing hats, high ponytails, working out, or playing with kids can apply pressure to your beads, causing one to slide down a bit. Fortunately, slips are easy to fix.
How to Fix a Slip
If you experience a slip, here’s what to do:
1. Secure Your Row: Use a bobby pin to secure your row and prevent pulling on the next bead. Insert the bobby pin horizontally, not vertically.
2. Contact Us: Text or call us to let us know. We may ask you to send a photo so we can assess the situation and schedule a quick fix. These fixes take about 15 minutes.
If you suspect a more serious issue than a slip, call us immediately. While rare, we’re committed to being transparent about any issues with your extensions. Hand-tied beaded row extensions generally pose the least risk of damage compared to other methods. Following the maintenance guidelines ensures your experience remains positive.
