Hydration is Key:
Just like your natural hair, hair extensions need proper hydration, especially during the
summer heat. Keep your extensions moisturized by using a hydrating shampoo and conditioner (Oribe Gold Lust or Alchemy line). Look for products that are specifically formulated for hair extensions to ensure they receive the nourishment they need. Additionally, consider incorporating a weekly deep conditioning treatment to restore moisture and prevent dryness (Oribe Moisture and Control Deep Treatment Masque).
Protect from UV Rays:
Prolonged exposure to the sun's harmful UV rays can cause color fading and dryness in your hair
extensions. To protect them, consider wearing a hat or scarf when you're out in the sun. Alternatively, you can use a leave-in conditioner or UV protectant spray designed for hair extensions. Apply it before heading outdoors to create a barrier against UV damage and maintain the vibrancy of your extensions. Avoid sunscreen that contains two SPF protection ingredients, Avobenzone (Butyl Methoxydibenzoylmethane) and Octocrylene, that react to ruin hair extensions. Swim with Care:
Swimming can be a refreshing way to beat the summer heat, but it's crucial to take precautions to protect your hair extensions. Before entering the water, gently brush and detangle your extensions to prevent tangling. If you're swimming in saltwater or chlorinated pools, spray leave in conditioner, tie into ponytail, braid the ponytail and tie the end. The leave-in conditioner will create a barrier to protect your extensions from the saltwater or chlorine. DO NOT LET YOUR DRY WITH OCEAN OR POOL WATER IN IT. After swimming, rinse your extensions thoroughly with clean water to remove any salt or chlorine residue, and re apply a leave-in conditioner to restore moisture.
